3rd Plenary and 6th Scientific Committee meetings

The EURO-PREVOB Consortium held its 3rd Plenary and 6th Scientific Committee meetings in Rome, Italy on 19-20 November 2009. The plenary meeting brought together stakeholders, project partners andthe Advisory Board from all over Europe to share the policy analysis experience. The December issue of the project's newsletter includes a brief overview of the discussions.

An update on work so far

The project has now entered its final months. Work is mainly focused on finalsiing the policy recommendations of Workpackage 13.

Review of obesity and socioeconomic groups in Europe

A review of the literature entitled Obesity and socio-economic groups in Europe: Evidence review and implications for action (http://ec.europa.eu/health/ph_determinants/life_style/nutrition/documents/ev20081028_rep_en.pdf) has recently been prepared by Aileen Robertson, Tim Lobstein and Cécile Knai. The aim of the review was to collate information from the literature and from international and national databases about the association between obesity and socioeconomic status in European countries. The review also describes some policies and interventions that are recommended to complement current initiatives in the area of health promotion.
